Rihanna Quotes 2014

Although she has seven Grammy Awards to her name, Rihanna may be just as popular for her outspoken demeanor as she is for her musical hits.  The 26 year old star is no stranger to controversy and over the course of her career she has garnered her share of negative attention.  However, whether you love or hate Rihanna, it is impossible to deny her strong work ethic, and the fact that she is an opinionated young person who never silences herself. This year, Rihanna has been the subject of several news stories; all of which she handled with genuine honesty, and sometimes, even a little class.  Here is a list of the best Rihanna quotes from 2014.

5. “When there’s no changing the fact that I’m me, and they’re, well … they’re them.”

After an interview, legendary female hip-hop/R&B group, TLC sent some subliminal shots in RiRi’s direction.  Group members T-Boz and Chilli stated “We became the biggest selling girl group of all time with our clothes on, and that says a lot.”  Rihanna, who felt attacked, made her own statement firing back at the group – subliminally suggesting that they are no longer relevant.

4.  “Alcohol is the devil and I need Chinese food”

Rihanna posted this tweet earlier this year, perhaps still winding down from her New Year’s celebrations.

3. “Lipstick. It draws attention away from any flaws. When someone is wearing lipstick, you just assume they’re wearing a full face of makeup. And guys are stupid—they won’t notice when you’re not.”

During an interview with Elle Magazine Rihanna reveals some of her beauty secrets.  When asked what her favorite makeup product is she replies with lipstick, and gives some helpful advice in the process.

2. “It’s not about pain. It’s about the commitment.”

During a profile piece for Vogue Magazine Rihanna confesses that she is willing to endure physical pain in order to achieve the look that she wants and be able to perform at her best.

1. “I don’t go out of my way to be a rebel or to have that perception, but a lot of the decisions I make, a lot of the direction I want to move, is against the grain, or against society’s tight lane, and I’m aware of that sometimes. It might not be fitting with the norm, but that’s OK for me.”

Rihanna, who is no stranger to controversy and bad press, acknowledges her behavior and insists that she does not go out of her way to be a “rebel.”
